In mid-April, we took the kids out of school for an experiential learning trip and headed to Belle Foret Resort (벨포레 리조트) in Jeungpyeong, Chungcheongbuk-do, for a 3-day, 2-night family getaway.
The main reason for this trip? My aunt’s youngest son had just finished his basic military training at the 37th Infantry Division in Jeungpyeong, and his graduation ceremony was on April 15th! Recalling my own military training days back in 2004, I knew exactly what he would want most: delicious food and a comfortable bed to rest on during his short 4-5 hours of free time.
Here is our detailed 3-day family itinerary, full of tips for enjoying Belle Foret Resort and planning a comfortable military graduation trip!
💡 Pro-Tip: Why We Booked 2 Nights for a 1-Day Event
If you are planning to rent a room for a soldier’s graduation day, book the night before! The graduation ceremony usually ends in the morning, but resort check-in times are strictly at 3:00 PM. To ensure my cousin could walk into a ready room and rest immediately, we booked from the 14th.
🗓️ Day 1: Belle Foret Farm & Dad’s Night Shift
We arrived on the 14th and started our trip by exploring the resort. Belle Foret is massive and packed with family-friendly activities. We headed straight to the Belle Foret Farm.

The kids absolutely loved feeding the animals. We also got to watch an impressive sheepdog show where a border collie expertly herded a flock of sheep.

The girls even got to experience riding miniature ponies! Even the baby enjoyed the breezy spring weather from her stroller.

Unfortunately, I had to work a night shift that evening. At 5:00 PM, I drove back to work alone while the family rested in the comfortable resort room.
🗓️ Day 2: The Graduation, Local Market, and Family Reunion
After finishing my night shift at 9:00 AM, I rushed back to the resort by 10:00 AM. My eldest daughter and I quickly drove down to the Jeungpyeong Traditional Market. We bought various street foods and visited a local restaurant that opened early to pack fresh Trout Sashimi (송어회), a local delicacy!
In the afternoon, my aunt, uncle, and the man of the hour—my newly graduated soldier cousin—arrived at our resort room!

We shared a fantastic meal, took photos for the kids’ school field trip report, and spent hours chatting. I shared stories from my own boot camp days in 2004, comparing how much the military has changed. After he comfortably rested, it was time for him to return to the base.
Once they left, our family enjoyed a relaxing evening stroll and had a simple but cozy dinner with convenience store snacks.
🗓️ Day 3: Breakfast & Amusement Park Thrills
On our final morning, we headed to the restaurant located in the Welcome Center for breakfast. While the buffet selection wasn’t massive, the food was delicious and the price was very reasonable!

After checking out, we couldn’t leave without visiting the amusement park inside the resort. The kids had a blast riding the sleds and the carousel swings. Belle Foret is also famous for its extreme Kart Racing track, making it a place packed with endless entertainment. We played hard until the very end before heading home!
